My grandpa was scheduled to hit Omaha at H+6. Due to the issues on the beach, he ended up on Omaha at D+1 and walked across Europe.

The one story he told is he hated turnips. They got cut off and the only food they could find was some turnips. Didn't hate turnips so much after that experience.
