Not necessarily. Deep involvement can include one’s place of employment. My niece worked in a pizza place as a teen - her family needed the money. She threw herself into the job, her coworkers, and her customers. She wrote a great admissions essay about it, and got in everywhere she applied.

This is severe separation anxiety. That’s a huge chronic stressor for a dog, with implications for long-term health, and additionally some dogs will seriously injure themselves trying to escape the crate. If OP doesn’t respond to your post, seek help from a positive reinforcement/force-free trainer, ideally one who is certified with one of the major training organizations and has a lot of experience intervening with separation anxiety. Most are working via Zoom or/and with outdoor sessions. If you’re not sure how to find such a trainer, DM me; I’ll help you.

I’m so sorry you specifically, and vets in general, have to go through that. It makes me very angry. We have tremendous respect and appreciation for our vet and for the profession. You keep our beloved pets healthy, you care for them when they’re sick, and you ease them out of this life when their time comes. Thank you so much.
