Why so much emphasis on press and media coverage, rather than going out and actually meeting developers (No GDC booth? Why not more things like the IGDA Chicago) ?

(as a fellow indie dev) I found it really quick/easy to port my own game to OUYA, so it only needs to pick up a relatively small number of sales to break even on the time spent porting. If your game is built on Android already (or some cross platform tool like Unity3D) there is not actually that much to do to port from Android to OUYA (just implement controller and IAP API's). The other thing for me was to be developing for a new platform, getting in on the ground floor and not feeling like a drop in the app store ocean. Also if you want to make games that really won't work on PC or Mobile (such as local multiplayer), then it's a hell of a lot easier than trying to get on PS3/4 or Wii U. However, depends on the games you're making. If they're not suitable for console, don't port them

isouyashipping.com is statistically flawed in so many ways it's not even funny. Self-selecting / non-random selection criteria and open to abuse, not to mention people are more likely to report not having an OUYA than they are to report when theirs has shipped
