Off-topic, but this is a showerthought I have had for a long time, and perhaps you can give me a good guestimate.
How long would it take after an apocalyse to erase all signs of human civilization, provided plants and some animals survive?
And more specifically, is the Earth old enough to have had a civilization before us, but of which all sign are erased by erosion, plate tectonics, and natural decay?
I am sorry, this is totally off-topic, but this thought experiment fascinates me to no end.
