I broke my ankle in several places and after surgery it was wrapped up for a while. Not a cast, but wrapped up and covered and then in a walking boot. Once the stitches were removed (I think 2 weeks?) was able to wash it and it felt GLORIOUS. But all the dead skin that came off was absolutely disgusting.

How are your parents doing? As a newish parent I've realized that nothing on earth scares me more than the thought of losing my children, or seeing them suffer. How did they cope? Did you feel like it was a burden on you to help them hold it together?

I'd also like to know this, as a fellow Hashimoto's sufferer

Is it even reasonable for an obese person to expect they can keep the weight off once they lose it? I've lost a LOT of weight three time in my life, and it comes creeping back on because eating 1200-1400 calories a day to maintain is HARD. I'm HUNGRY. I'm not weak - but dammit I get hungry, even eating high protein.

Studies seem to show there's a very, very slim chance of ever keeping the weight off so it just feels really hopeless.

Is WLS the only real option for lasting weight loss? I'm not obese enough yet for it, but I have to wonder if it's what I'm headed to.
