How long is too long to break from the gym? (not been in around 2-3 weeks due to Christmas)

Just a quick question due to being a officer in the military what do you think of this clip of HBO's Band of Brothers End Speech, do you agree the point that is trying to show? That both sides are essentially similar, despite being enemies they fight for similar reasons and purposes.
