Have you looked into disc replacement?

Yes, my dad has AS, but he has nerve damage due to a helicopter accident when he was in the Marines so he can't get the disc replacement.

I'm sorry to hear it's not a viable option. I have the genetic marker for AS, but so far have not exhibited any symptoms. I do have psoriatic arthritis though and that alone isn't fun so I can only imagine how AS feels.

My dad has found Enbrel helpful.
