Pixel is designed and created in-house by Google. Nexus products are the result of Google telling a manufacturer what they want, and having them create the device.

It works when on the Google website or new tab page so people can use the "OK Google" function, which you have to specifically opt in to.

1: Its a tablet, why would you need a waterproof tablet.

2: it requires a shitton more engineering and testing.
