What has your worst day as a coffee farmer been like in comparison to your worst day as an attorney ?

Your math isn't 'wrong,' but please, how many people making anywhere near $7.25 USD/hour are traveling to japan? The taxi/bus/whatever from the airport to city center alone will be $75-$250....both ways. That said, your point stands even for many people making $25/hour or more. Even if you take an entire extra day to travel (and lose out on your $200/day pay for that extra travel day), you still come out ahead financially.

Your kindness is incredible. Could you speak to the practicalities of such altruistic donations ? For instance, how are you able to get time off from work for what is presumably a major surgery when (to you) it isn't medically necessary? How long were you down for ? I'm assuming all costs for surgery and hospitalization, etc were covered by the recipient's insurance? What about your lost wages ? What would have happened if you developed some type of long-lasting complications from the surgery ? Do you have a spouse / dependents? I'm fascinated. Please share whatever you are comfortable with.
