Thanks LeVar! What books do you read over and over, if any? Do you have any feelings about whether it's good to keep moving on to new discoveries, or returning to familiar stories?

Hope my family can attend a live show soon!

So she's not going to die off-screen without any character resolution like Tara? Oh thank goodness.

My understanding was that it was to show "anyone can die".

Which... yeah, is fine as a motivation sometimes. Characters who don't hurt the show by dying are those whose stories are complete, or who we care about but their deaths impact the story in interesting ways.

But True Blood isn't a Coen Brothers film where the pointlessness of a death is the point. Tara was established early on as a central to several themes and relationships, who Alan Ball said was supposed to be the smartest on the show, and was played well by Rutina Wesley. Her character got short shrift, then got a new energy and purpose when paired with Kristin Bauer (my favorite on the show). When it ended early, it wasn't a shock so much as a sigh at something we'd seen before, Tara used to move along other characters plots.

I look forward to the rest of the season, and am looking forward to Pam's finale (Kristen seemed to confirm it's an on screen death). I wish Rutina Wesley got a chance at a similar scene.
