Anecdotally, I think there's been a bit of a cultural shift when it comes to secrets in general. I used to hear a lot about taking secrets to the grave, while now I'm generally hearing that you may as well tell the truth because your secrets will come out anyway. Do you think that there's been some sort of shift in society that makes people think this way?
I guess some further questions on the same line would be, are some personality types better suited at keeping secrets? Also, do everyday people generally have secrets that they really won't reveal to others?
Again, anecdotal, I've heard of some people who cheat on their spouses, can't keep the secret out of guilt (or whatever internal or external pressure) and then tell their spouse, while others cheat and just never tell anyone (regardless internal or external pressure).
