Is there a simple way to benchmark what a "normal" price for a flight is? Is it just looking at the surrounding fares on Google flights, or is there a way to learn historical data too?

It's a tough position for the Dems though, because if they cave then Trump knows he can just get whatever he wants by shutting down the government over every little thing and refusing to compromise until he gets it. Which at this point, I can't say I'd be surprised if he did. Plus, other than the GOP base which is already 1,000% Trump anyways, very few voters are blaming the Dems for this in the polls, so there are bloodthirsty political reasons for them to hang on too.

So maybe you're looking at Senate Republicans caving enough to at least keep the government funded on a short term basis?

I don't know, it doesn't seem like anybody is going to cave.

Man, you people are worse than the politicians at giving non-answers to direct questions.

I mean, at this point, he is literally making up his numbers for what the flow is anyways so I don't think any sort of facts make much difference in this post-fact world.

He believes his base wants a wall at all costs, and he's probably mostly right. The Dems believe their base do not want a wall at all costs, and they're probably mostly right.

And I guess we see what happens.
