What's the best way to apply either liquid or powder to shower walls?

If I use a bristle brush and pour onto the brush, a lot of the liquid goes to the bristle's base and drips out. I've, ah, 'thrown' the powder at the walls but didn't get a good result. I also tried squirting the liquid at the walls but I'm short and it doesn't work well. You know, typing all this out is giving me a sense of ridiculousness.
