How about lobbyists? They seem like they make a lot of the laws that you end up investigating.

I.E. Prison Industry, Drug Laws, etc...

I watched this show as a kid and absolutely loved it! Where did you get the inspiration for 1,001 ways to create insane contraptions out of the materials that you did? Did you imagine them out of thin air, or have someone with at least some knowledge on the subject give you plausible ideas?
