That makes sense, thanks for the reply. Especially if you're cooking to save money at a restaurant, but if money is that much of an issue...
Just a life tip,
Salt, sugar, spices, and herbs are so cheap that you can make pounds of any seasoning for the same price of a few ounces of the store bought stuff. There's no secret ingredient or skills required. Mix stuff you already have and you're done.
Spend literally one minute to google a cajun, southern, smokehouse, bbq, spicy, sweet, dry rub and you'll likely discover you already have all the ingredients, and you'll be proud that you custom made your food for cheaper than the store bought stuff. These people selling seasoning mixes for more than one dollar are just exploitative and insulting to the general population. Just my two cents.

What kind of person needs to buy a premade, soon to be stale "rub"?
Half the fun, no, ninety percent of the fun of cooking is coming up with your own flavors and recipes. Im pretty sure everyone owns salt, garlic, sugar, peppers, etc.
Are you targeting Wal-Mart customers on purpose because of their naivety? Just wondering because you seem pretty hell bent on your little business plan here.

Well, does your city have farmers markets or street vendors or anything like that? If you're so passionate about this, while complaining about profit loss from distributors, why aren't you just selling it yourself? If you get a following in your own city it will be a good forecast of what to expect later on. On the flip side, if there's not market for your premade seasonings, well, you live and learn.
Even in smaller cities, the local Ma and Pa restaurants may be interested in either cooking with your product or selling it themselves. I admit I had some hostility towards this because you're kind of avoiding your issue of profit loss by going to Wal-Mart. Hell, when I was a teen I made decent money selling popcorn bags at local events and stuff. It was a lot of work and running around but it was worth it. I surely wasn't trying to get Wal-Mart to do the selling for me.
