Is the non-profit owned by for-profit companies, and when you signed the publishing agreement after you had written the book, did you know you were not going to be able to publish it for free online?

It's probably hard to pass these laws because the healthcare industry when market capped is worth $3.47 trillion dollars annually. And the organizations that comprise this industry are politically active donating to politician-lawmaker campaigns and influencing laws that favor their interests, which are; increasing profits and decreasing costs. I also think eliminating campaign contribution limits is contributing to this healthcare crisis.

Has your organization thought about broaching the unnecessary surgery epidemic topic at all? It's pretty horrific to have a surgeon coerce a patient into unnecessary surgery using the power and information asymmetry of the doctor/patient relationship, but it seems like it's standard practice now since these surgical departments are hospital profit centers and the lack of effective regulation provides little incentive against these abuses.

This article talks about how unneccessary surgery is probably in the millions every year, and lists the most common unnecessary surgeries.

I would add otolaryngology to the list of common unneccessary surgery. This medical organization cuts and breaks ultra critical sinus bone and tissue "on every patient" even though there is no objective medical evidence or a single valid study that these procedures work.

Edit: Otolaryngology as an entire industry embraces the concept of unneccessary surgery as a business model, it's frightening. They can turn unnecessary surgery into "standard practice", even though no science supports what they are doing. They are labelling unnecessary and non-effective surgery as "medically necessary". Someone should sue this whole pathological organization.

Holy shit. This is profound, that question from your mom was excellent. I also think this is why it's no laughing matter when powerful people don't take human rights seriously, what it portends is ominous, and then soon it's standard practice.
