Sounds like the ole' four square... FORGET PAYMENT people. It will take care of itself. Focus on the bottom line and interest rate.

I was top 5 where I was and I'll tell you why I didn't make 6 figures. After the first 6 months I was moved to the Internet department and only took phone ups and Internet leads. I already knew I didn't enjoy charging little old ladies on fixed incomes thousands more then they should pay, so when the authority to quote invoice prices came with my new title I started giving every customer who was kind the absolute lowest price possible. I would still put the screws to rude and pushy customers so I made some money on those guys but for the most part I made $200 a car. I sold a ton of cars, had my picture in the paper, and won the trips because I had 100% "CSI" or "customer service index" and Google reviews. All this sounds good, but it's not. I constantly took heat for selling at invoice all the time, I hated my job and sat at my desk browsing Reddit and working as little as possible. I knew it wasn't going to be a career so I worked against the dealerships motto of "take all you can and give nothing back. " until I found something else to do... Which paid the same and wasn't any more satisfying... Now, I'm going to school to learn how to do something I love so I can make half as much money but be happy with myself.

I know both pencils, the old school 4 square is meant to confuse and hold as much gross as possible. All jokes aside I admire long term car guys. Selling cars is a lot of time away from home, a lot of stress and pressure and the reward is purely financial because your "ups" typically treat you like the plague, your not realy helping anyone because you're only trying to take as much from them and make as much profit as possible and nobody respects the title. The worst two years of my life I sold cars, I was pretty good, made about 70 a year and won trips to the Bahamas and Jamaica. I did great but I was miserable, felt zero job satisfaction and hid behind a fake smile and false enthusiasm. How long have you been selling?
