At the end of your film you mentioned a $100 tip, were the other porters paid more?

Your film was awesome really opened my eyes. I wish their government for a start would step in (use higher tourist license fees) to provide paid accommodation/food for all porters.

Thanks again for sharing, https://www.theporterfilm.com/

I understand that. As reported in the film, daily pay basically covers 'porters' meals and someplace to sleep sheltered. They depend on tips for some income to take home. OP & his fellow porters were only tipped $100 for the 12 day expedition. They weren't even paid a daily fee on the 12th day.

The first step to better conditions is exposure of the exploitation. If anything it could help push expedition companies to not load one person with 100kilos of gear and hire 2 or 3 locals. Those tourists who take these expeditions can't cheap out with a measly $100 tip!

I'm in near SW Houston, texas area and haven't noticed any python type snakes.

In the past year I have noticed, normal grass snakes. I'm not near any bayous or water, although the 'American water canal' (manmade for moving drinking water) is right up the street about a mile. At night that canal & nearby bayous are alive, 100s! with water moccasins...I don't think pythons would have a chance to get established here against poison. During the day turtles, and then a lot of invasive fish-jumping carp, koi, huge talipia, tropical fish of many types have come out of these close waterways.

We have a lot of grey squirrels on our property. acorns & pecans off our trees are what they like to eat. they build leaf nests? high up in the oak trees.

another invasive species we've noticed are white(with light reddish markings) lizards that only are out at night. someone told us they were called 'Moroccan lizards'

Your PhD sounds very interesting "biotic-homogenization".

I think species, plant/animal are going to breed & expand any place that has an environment they can survive in.

Hello Andrew Yang, I like the idea of a Universal basic income.

I have the same question as others- What benefits will the $1000 a month replace if any? & why cut off at 64? & below 18?

Thank you for the reply & the links. I'll keep an eye out for pythons. This year in Houston area there wasn't even a cold 'winter' to enjoy, a frost on the grass morning or 2 was about it.
