My mom passed from cancer when I was 18. What I didn't know was she lived 7 years past her terminal date. I just remember her getting really sick really fast.

I wish I knew. I wish I made things easier for her. I wish I said "I love you" more.

Thanks for giving me the other perspective, I appreciate it a lot.

Also I wanna thank you for sharing your story. I have the same cancer that took my mom, and February I was told I have 1-2 years left. Hearing about people who live past their "expiration date" definitely makes me feel better about my situation.

Any tips for dealing with the stress and anxiety? I noticed my I've found it hard to make myself eat.

I'm 28 and actually just found out last year I had colorectal cancer. Two surgeries and a lot of chemo and radiation and it looks like I'm in the clear.

I don't think I'll ever get fully used to my ostomy bag. Any tips living with it?

Also fellas, you are never too young to get checked out! My doc told me if I had gotten checked out when I was 18 I wouldn't have a permanent ostomy bag.

Oh lord... My ass was literally bleeding. Like I'd feel like I'd have to go poop and when I went, just blood came out. Turns out I had stage 3, almost stage 4 colorectal cancer. I don't recommend waiting until then. Get checked out every couple years even if there are no visible symptoms.

No, I had no visible symptoms untill my ass started bleeding one day. And by then it was already stage 3, almost 4. My mom passed away from it when I was 18 and it wasn't until last year when my grandpa also passed away from it that the docs thought it could be genetic. I'd say better safe than sorry. There's no shame in getting them checked out. I wish I had done it sooner.
