I prefer to give to public school teachers who teach special needs students; many schools have self-contained classrooms with students on the spectrum and the teachers are in need supplies. Try:

The "low-functioning" label limits your son and does not serve to motivate educators to enhance the services they provide to him; which should be consistently building on his successes and abilities. I refuse to allow my son to referred to as "low functioning".
