Israelis are VERY supportive of IDF. The consensus among Israelis is that IDF goes through extraordinary effort to prevent civilian casualties at all costs, protects Israeli civilians at all costs, is humanitarian in treating others, and is badass at targeting terrorists. This opinion is driven by both mass media and social media.

NOTE: my comment says nothing on the factuality of these statements. Only that this is the consensus among Israelis.

At the very least, claiming "Israelis are bloodthirsy" is wrong, as these are the values it praises.

This is very interesting. According to this, Hamas, for the most part, seems to be targeting military, not civilians. This is not the impression at all from the media.

I don't pretend to know the answer to my question beforehand, which is why I asked... I know we get an extremely skewed view of reality by media.
