People often speak of the horrors of war but don't mention the bonds that it forged. What is your favorite memory concerning friendships you formed in the military?

No I don't blame him, it's just tough for me to wrap my head around my loving grandfather killing people without remorse. But I suppose it makes sense, especially with the fact that he saw extensive Japanese mistreatment of Marine dead, night infiltration suicide missions, and the take no prisoners brutal nature of island fighting.

He's a model/actor, he doesn't need to write anything in his tinder bio. Unlike us plebs.

It would depend on the age and gender of the person; he didn't resent women or people too young to have taken part in the fighting, but did not like Japanese men around his age. My grandpa wasn't an impolite guy, but he said he had a tough time separating the faces from the ones he saw killing his friends. He said that he was guilty about it, but he admittedly held prejudices. I have a tough time grasping it, but I never saw the bodies of my sworn brothers chopped up with their genitals in their mouths, left out like some sort of macabre art display.

That's good to hear. My grandpa served at Guadalcanal, Guam, and Okinawa. This man was the greatest person I have ever met. He was an amazing provider for his family and the best grandpa I could ask for. I interviewed him shortly before his death this past May and asked him if he harbored any resentment towards the Japanese, unfortunately he did. Apparently it is quite common among Marine vets who went "into the grinder." He said they weren't human, that they literally were more beast than man.
