Do you only strive to cosplay video games/anime characters? Would you ever do a random cosplay, like an arbitrary animal or nothing pertaining to a series?

That's a really great way to put yourself into their shoes! That is something that really separates good cosplayers from great ones! It's like having a deadpool cosplayer not be sarcastic and crazy. It just doesn't work.
