Hi! Thanks so much for this from a therapist who used to work for BetterHelp, it's not just data either a lot of their practices and things they encourage therapists to do are downright unethical or even illegal (happy to share my experience, DM me)

I was wondering if you looked at/your thoughts on SonderMind? I have been contracting with them for a while now and , very much unlike BetterHelp, I have been at least mostly satisfied with them and they seem professional/keep data private but would be very interested in you and your team's take on them.

Thanks!

at a certain point medically and psychologically speaking addiction isnt a decision anymore its much moire like an illness or disease and 9/10 people I;ve ever known seriously disease style addicted to hard drugs had a generally fucked up and abuseive childhood that they ultimately turned to drugs to cope with which again, isn't at all their fault either

Not really. I work in social work and mental health. We put a cop in every school but not a mental health professional. School counselors have some mental health training but they also have to do advisement and with their case loads they just don't have the time. Case managers don't either with their even crazier case loads. While there are some true heroes in these professions we don't give them enough pay to attract more consistent talent. If anyone in the family has a drug issue resources can be taken away and we don't offer treatment outside of drug court and AA programs which aren't based on science. We don't pay for family counseling. Food stamps aren't enough for good nutrition. I could go on but my point being we don't spend "a shitload" more like a tiny deer poop pebble load

Disagree. We fucked up, we as a society. It is unreasonable and entirely counter to reality to expect that every parent will raise their kids to be decent people or be decent themselves to anyone even their kids. Sorry, that is how it is. But while we identify "problem kids" we do little if anuthing to help, we often punish which just makes it worse. Instead, those kids should be targeted for resources, counseling, social workers, tutors, money for better food, clothes, etc. Instead we do little to none of those things, punish the kids, blame the parents, and then act surprised when by high school they have become lost cases...
