You're being overly optimistic. This is sexism plain and simple.

Not criticising you, but what the hell was an employee doing alone with a minor? That should be against company policy. It's a recipe for child abuse/false allegations of child abuse. Those parents could have turned that story around on you and you'd probably have been screwed.
