I have seen this first hand many times. This single paragraph of advice is so applicable!

I have also seen certain men with certain personalities make the same type of mistake. They went after leadership positions because they felt they could, not because they should. They did not consider if it was a good match for them, and the jobs basically kicked their asses. To me it was exactly the same situation you describe in this message, and gender had very little to do with it. Whether particular people were a good fit for the role had everything to do with it.

So what you are saying here has a whole lot of truth beyond just women, in my opinion.
