I feel like the S should be capitalized.

Patient: "I've had this couch for 2 weeks now. It's not going away and it's really starting to annoy me."

Doc: "And what about it made you decide to come to the ER at 2am tonight?"

Patient: "I dunno, couldn't sleep and there was nothing on TV I guess."

All of you PKU guys mention taking a supplement drink of some sort. What's in the drinks? Are they replacing something that ends up lacking from the low-protein diet?

Wow! Well, at least you didn't have to dine alone.

How has the experience in the hospital been? Anything that could have been improved from a sensitivity standpoint?

I ask partly because a while ago I had a MTF trans patient (admitted for something completely unrelated to gender). While us nurses always passed on in shift change that she identified as female and preferred to be addressed as ______ , her chart and info in the computer all had her birth name & male gender, so when other staff would come to see her (unless I could catch them first) it would always be, "Mr. _____, I'm here to take you to CT scan." I wish there could have been a notification along with the gender to let people know how she identified.

Also, I was curious if you know at what point can someone legally change their gender on their licence, birth certificate, etc? Perhaps this varies from state to state?

Best of luck with your recovery, /u/thisisnotmyjob !
