incidentally, if you happen to know anything about this topic, i'd be interested.
as quite a few Scandinavians settled in the Great Lakes area--particularly Minnesota and Wisconsin--it seems like they would have brought "Swediana" music with them...and i don't know anything at all about that influence on the American music in that area...

...i wouldn't really call guys from Toronto "foreigners"--especially in a musical/cultural sense. there were several other Canadians who seamlessly joined the 60s/70s scene also--most notably Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. i mean, "Americana" is pretty much a made-up thing.
and where do you think "folk" music came from? it's far older than America, and the same people who brought it here also brought it to Canada and elsewhere (in the same way that Cajun and French-Canadian music share the same roots).

could an American, for instance, do the same (or similar) in Sweden with such a visa? (though perhaps busking around northern Sweden might not be so enjoyable)
