Yes, and helicopter pilot-in-command sits on the right. You can't take your right hand off the cyclic at all during flight, so your left hand can access other controls.

Hi, sorry to butt-in on your question, but private helo pilot here. Yes, we are taught how to auto-rotate early on in flight school. In some instances, it can be safer to have an engine fail in a helicopter versus a fixed wing aircraft. The reason being, a helicopter can land in about a 30-40ft landing zone while an airplane needs a much longer area.
