A judge cannot be disbarred from hearing cases. Disbarment occurs when a lawyer's license is revoked by the bar association. Rather, the judge in this case was suspended. OP, however, alleges that his father's case was "one of the examples used to get him 'disbarred'" meaning of course that there would be no grounds to appeal on that issue.

So the courts are part of the government, per the Constitution, but are distinct from the political branches (Congress and the Executive) through lifetime appointments, at least at the federal level, in the US.
