What is your opinion on becoming so famous so fast? How overwhelming is it? Thoughts on being the first to reach 1 Billion views on Youtube?

Can someone get me a screencap of this?

I'm not a p4k writer, but if I had to guess it has to do a lot with how aritists carry themselves. Like, the Hotelier are "emo" but don't really carry themselves that way I guess. However, they still work well within those confines of "emo." Simpson is an outsider to the country establishment, but still (sorta) works within those contry confines.

Basically, Simpson has to do a full-length collab with Pinegrove and we'll all be good.

So, I'm gonna tell a story, then ask a question.

When I was just a wee freshman in high school (six years ago), I stumbled upon Pitchfork's review of Wincing the Night Away by the Shins. I had never seen your website before, and started visiting, not knowing much about indie rock or your publication. I soon gravitated towards the top ten lists and things like that, finding bands and artists I had never even heard of. I was SHOCKED when I saw one of the most recent reviews was a perfect score of a My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I knew nothing of Mr. West, except that he was mean to Taylor Swift.

Well, I would be lying if I didn't say that all of these musical discoveries probably saved my life in High School. Its because of you all that I now know and love Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Fleet Foxes, Husker Du, Animal Collective, Ty Segall, so many its hard to name. Even Kanye, who is now among my favorite artists ever. So thanks guys.

But here is my question- while perusing those top ten lists I mentioned earlier, there were many bands that got listed that have since fallen out of acclaim or into obscurity. I guess you could call them "blog bands." I find it fascinating that even as a very official source of music, you guys are still like the capstone for a "blog band," and a positive review from you guys can make or break a band. So my question is this: how do you reconcile the effect you have on bands, positive or negative? Do you ever feel freaked out that with a lower score you can make a large swath of the indie rock sphere ignore a previously adored band? (Basically, how does it feel to be the gods of favor in indie rock?)
