What does Canonical know about why Valve ditched Ubuntu as a base for SteamOS that they're not telling? After the close cooperation with Canonical, it's impossible there was no communication about any differences both might have had, much less after the change was final.

Microsoft accounts seem on the way of being mandatory

My biggest complaint, since I'm ok with the Metro interface and the lack of start menu isn't a dealbeaker.

During our testing (without 'Microsoft accounts'), we couldnt install any app from the app store, not even demos or free apps. With stats revealing how little Metro apps get used/installed, you'd think MS would seek to promote use of the store much more, if just to ween out folks from the traditional desktop instead of making desktop apps the only ones they can install.

If you mean the design "experts", actually constantly promoted. The wallpaper turned into a running joke now, changing flare amount and positions every 6 months.

The economic hardship scheduled to be imposed will have the entire population looking at Crimeans with envy by next year... Think Greece and Cyprus but worse. The currency will devaluate really hard, thats why the east is considering to adopt the ruble rather than its own surely unstable currency that wouldnt be backed by anything. Even if the east remains federalized within Ukraine, they may still adopt rubles to preserve the local economy.

And that's not even getting into the obvious ideological and political differences.
