As a non-evangelical with family who are Kentuckian evangelicals, this really interests me. Your article gives the impression that you mostly talked with people affiliated with non-denominational megachurches. So I was surprised you mentioned the Benedict Option, which, as far as I can tell, is lingo largely used in more intellectually-focused, liturgically traditional parts of evangelicalism. (Though I may be wrong about that -- I'm looking at this from the outside in.)

Did you get a sense that fine-grained religious differences among evangelicals (such as preferred worship style, theological affiliation (e.g. Reformed or Arminian), level of acquaintance with church history, etc.) was correlated with any differences in their perception of "persecution" and/or their responses to that perception?
