It's the classic "I have an amazing personality while my skill can only improve, while no matter how skill-mazing some top level pros are they will never have my personality."
Unless you're at the level of guys who are placing 1-3 in serious serious high level tournaments, personality/celebrity just pays more than skill. Look at Huk/iNcontroL, certainly not the best in the game right now, but a strong celebrity/personality gets them viewers which translates directly into cash.
