As someone who works in scientific research, I'd just like to say that this is spot on. I work on commercializing technology that was conceived before I was born, and I've been at it for almost a decade myself (almost 27 years on the planet.) I wouldn't even go so far as to say we are close to commercializing the technology, either.

Coincidentally, one of the technologies that my company works on is battery technology. Here is a relevant article. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the specifics of that technology, as I have nothing to do with those projects.

If you got that far you might as well ride it out. The last couple of seasons aren't great, but the ENDING is pretty superb.
