I had the same concern when I was 18! Turns out I had pectus excavatum and I'm really glad I had the surgery.

If you can eat cereal from the dip in your chest, you probably have it and should ask your doctor about it! I will caution that the surgery is pretty painful, but it has massive benefits and you'll notice your breathing will come a lot easier.

I also saw an AMA on here ~9 years ago and had this surgery! I was a bit younger than OP is.

First thing I noticed (after the pain) was how much easier it was to breath. Did you have that experience as well?

That's good to hear!

If it doesn't cost you too much, I would highly recommend seeing a doctor for it anyway. Not because you necessarily want to get surgery, but because they can do a simple breathing test on you to see if the dip is restricting the volume of your lung capacity. I got mine done in a consultation with a surgeon to see if my health insurance qualified me (yay America), but I'm sure you can have the test done separately without the goal of surgery. It's literally breathing into a specially marked plastic tubing that has a dial to measure your breath input/output.

That way you can have peace of mind knowing exactly how much this impacts you and if it might be an issue in the future.

What're your thoughts on one of the current case on the docket - Madrid v. Torres? It has such broad reaching implications for the future of unreasonable use of force, especially considering this political climate
