I'm a Texan with a thick Texan accent (whatever cliches about Texas you know, I embody them). Some how, however, while learning Chinese at 16-17 years old, I perfected the accent. My teacher was a native speaker and in fact had terrible English, and she and the other Chinese students in the class always seemed to be amazed that I often didn't have a noticeable foreigner accent, something they said that many people who learn Chinese as a second language and use it regularly can't do their entire lives.

Oh, and wo mama shi gonggong qi che si ji.

I don't remember the accent marks, but I was trying to tell you my mother drives a bus. I remember that one too.
