So the first two books were great, the third one was underwhelming, and the fourth one was closer to the original quality? That sounds familiar...

That's what he meant by ad hominem.

wouldn't it be easy to track the origins of these attacks onto GamerGate hubs where this would have been discussed and organized?

I think this is an important point that deserves more attention. I don't mean to try to persuade you out of neutrality, as you're in a very complicated situation right now, but that observation is a key point in the harassment discussion around GamerGate.

It's indisputable that some of the people who have doxxed and sent death threats to prominent female figures did it in the wake of GamerGate, but if those actions reflected even a little bit on the beliefs and goals of GamerGate as a whole, it would be impossibly easy to prove. None of those accusations have ever been proven, yet they keep being accepted as fact. I mean we were able to uncover evidence of collusion amongst a group of prominent games journalists, but they can't find any evidence of collusion amongst a few meaningless trolls?

I skipped the third and didn't have too many problems. Lindsay does a good job of giving exposition in each book without feeling redundant. And like he said, that book was an experiment and the story moves away from it.
