She might be referring to this, as it is a very recent discovery regarding Neanderthal art

Well, most paleoanthropologists currently are in the camp of 2 different species. You don't see Homo sapiens neanderthalensis really in academic literature. This is because, even though there was interbreeding, paleoanthropologists can't really use the biological species concept to dileneate between species, as for most fossil hominins we can't get DNA. So most species differentiations in paleoanthropology come from morphological differences, or physical differences in the skeleton. Because of the vast and noticeable differences between modern humans and Neanderthals in terms of skeletal anatomy, they are routinely classified as two different species. I am a masters student currently working toward my PhD in Paleoanthropology if you are interested in where I'm getting this!

True it doesn't require DNA but it's based on interbreeding and fertile hybridization which is inherently based around DNA. It's not the end all be all but it is involved. Also I have not seen Neanderthals referred to as Homo sapiens neanderthalensis in academic literature written in the last 20 years, they are referred to as Homo neanderthalensis. It depends on if you are a lumper or a splitter but on the whole that is an outdated term.

Will there ever be an American Idol type atmosphere for tryouts where you show people who have no reason being on ninja warrior failing miserably for the entertainment of the viewers?
