I'm an oyster picker in WA. we pick our oysters by hand at low tide, buoy the bags, then pick them up at high tide with our flat bottom boat. I've heard of people just dredging the bottom at high tide for oysters and breaking them on the boat. How do you guys farm?

oh so you guys are growing singles in those flip bag lines? That's much easier. We just throw our seed out in the bay then break the clusters by hand (with a hammer) when we go pick. It shucks.

about 2 years. I've picked some that were the length of my forearm though, I'm guessing those have been growing 6years+

Theres also triploid oysters that don't spawn. we sell those during the summer months.

I'm not quite sure how much we sell them for. I know it depends on the size and how we grow them. we have three different size's 2-3in 3-4in and 4in+ pretty sure the 3-4in sell for the most. The two was we grow is breaking clusters off the bay and flip bags, the singles from the flip bags sell for more. I break the clusters on the bay with a hammer and bag and buoy them. I get paid $0.70 per dozen but I know the company sells them for a lot more than that.
