Was the menu for that much less click-heavy like BF3 is?

How was it getting shot at? On the stream I heard bullet snaps and cracks instead of the pathetic pew pew sounds we have now. Did it feel scary?

The first thing I noticed when watching the stream was the cracking from rounds being shot at you. BF3 has them, we all know that, but they pale in comparison.
