That's an improvement that could have been done without the rebrand though, and conflating the two doesn't really do your or the brand any favours...

Don't get me wrong, I don't really have a horse in this race either way; I've never used your services and probably never will—for no reason other than I simply can't afford to travel and don't foresee being able to in the near future, regardless of how cheap the travel options are—but I have seen you/SCF a bunch on reddit and think what you're doing is great.

I am, however, curious to know what your rebranding process was? Did you do everything siloed internally, did your employees have any input? What about focus groups with customers?

I don't know if businesses often think to do this this when thinking about rebranding, but your customers can provide valuable insights ahead of time. It could just be the reddit bias, but it's pretty clear to me that there is negative emotion among your customers about the new brand which could ultimately negatively affect business.

Or it might not. What do I know? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You actually don't have to, at least if you're comfortable with command-line interfaces.

It's unofficial, but there is a Dashlane CLI. I've used it, it's fine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It actually isn't super difficult to use, to be honest.

And it's unofficial only in the sense that it's not officially supported; it's still a Dashlane project, not a third party, and under Dashlane's github.

Not trying to convince you to use it, either; I don't use it myself, I had just tried it out as I was hoping I'd be able to use it to do administration of my business plan, but sadly that wasn't the case.

It's because old reddit relied solely on markdown in the editor.

New reddit's editor by default is the "Fancy Pants" editor that is WYSIWYG; it still uses markdown, but automagically. So when escapable characters are put into the editor, it automatically escapes them in the markdown version, which then old reddit picks up and gets confused on.

Salut Fred!

I'm an admin of our Dashlane for Business plan and I find the admin console and abilities to be a little lacking. Are there any plans to change improve the Admin experience?

I have a bunch of questions, so I apologize in advance...

  1. What's the logic behind requiring users to accept group invites? Only admins can manage group membership, so it seems strange to have this extra step.

  2. I also find it weird that, as a user, I can't find members part of my same business plan, unless I've shared a password with them already or they're in my contacts. There should be a way, even with an admin toggled setting, to allow discovery.

  3. Why can't admins initiate password resets? I have some people in my company who are less tech savvy and being able to have more control as an admin would help their user experience.

  4. Why does the web-app on Chrome (haven't looked at other browsers for the moment) have a chrome-extension URI, versus being something like app.dashlane.com?

  5. Are there any plans to introduce different user types, instead of just Admins and Members? I'd love to be able to have different roles and permission groups to be able to allow managers to manage the members of specific password groups, for example, without having access to the whole admin console.

  6. Can you guys add a way to change the default behaviour of the settings when adding a new password, or at least allow bulk editing? I loathe the autologin feature and hate that it's enabled by default.

  7. What's the deal with the Friends & Family dashboard? It lacks any kind of administration ability...
