FWIW Penn has said many times that for a magician, the goal of Fool Us isn't to fool Penn & Teller. The goal is to showcase your talents to the world.

He uses Piff the Magic Dragon as an example. Piff didn't fool Penn & Teller, but he is still the biggest "winner" the show has ever had. Before his appearance he wasn't well known at all. But his appearance on Fool Us got tons of attention, praise from magicians, youtube views, etc. and helped propel his career to another level.

I used to feel the same way you did about "assault rifles" until I learned that an "assault rifle" is basically the same as a regular rifle except they look like a military rifle (black, pistol grip, etc.). They're no more dangerous than a normal rifle they just look scarier.

But of course you couldn't give two shits about this since you currently have a terrorist and 1,000 SWAT team members running around your neighborhood so fuck me. Stay safe!

I find that hard to believe. That's actually a really small net worth for a guy his age. In fact, that's around the bare minimum you should have saved by that age for retirement. If he loses his next election, he'll probably have to get a job as a Walmart greeter to make ends meet.
