"Double Yes! Guilty!"

pathetic has more than one meaning. his use was more related to "pathos" than the speech being bad. i am german as well and in german "pathetisch" only has one meaning: full of pathos, evoking feelings.

i don't know where that second meaning with the negative connotation came from, but as i understand it is the dominant one in conversational language nowadays, right ?

that's what i thought, based on its use in movies and television. but according to the webster, it also has the original meaning, derived from the greek pathos. is it really not used that way at all ?

€dit: it just occurred to me, that it is really ironic when pathetic is used to describe a poor speech. pathos being one of the methods of rhetoric :D

Do you think your products (esp. artificial muscle tissue, skin and ligaments/tendons) could be used as non-functional but "cosmetic" layer/structure on top of modern complex prosthetics that simulates natural behaviour and maybe thereby improves the quality of life of the recipient ? How often would they have to be serviced/maintenanced if they would be in daily use, could you estimate ?
