It's not that the dreams are terrible. It's the drugs you're pumped with tend to cause hallucinations. So your dreams are extremely vivid. For me personally it was when i was awake, while day dreaming, those daydreams would feel extremely real.

You don't feel it. I was once taken into the ICU. They gave me a sedative went to sleep at night. Woke up the next day. Was later told that it had been five days since the incident. You don't feel it.
