Ugh that's terrible. I can see how parents would recognize severe changes in their own child, but it would be more difficult for someone on the outside to. Also, wow 40 tubes of blood. The most I've done at once was 14 and at the end it was barely a drip.

Was this difficult to diagnose? Are there definitive tests that can easily and conclusively provide the diagnosis you have? I could see how a kid reporting weight gain and migraines etc. could be not taken seriously.
