I put a DVD to go back to NetFlix in my mailbox, (which is no more than 7 feet off the sidewalk, and shares a wall with two other mailboxes) it sat there for a week.
I went to the PO to ask why the mail carrier never took it, despite my neighbors in the boxes adjacent receiving their mail as usual. The lady said that unless you are receiving mail, the carrier is no longer required to take outgoing mail that someone has left in the box.
That can't possibly be true can it? If so, why is it still a requirement that mailboxes next to the road have flags on them? Wouldn't the same thing apply to them?
