Hah, good point. But you’re not taking into account the sacred rule of public transport in Britain... do not make contact with the other passengers.

But seriously, having always been told that you should never pet a service dog, it wouldn’t have even crossed my mind to ask this.

I was on a train a few months ago and there was a woman sitting across the aisle from where I was standing. She was blind and had a service dog. I don’t know if the dog was new/inexperienced or if she could just smell something interesting on me but she came over to me and started nuzzling me. I absolutely adore dogs so I was dying to stroke her, but I know that you’re not supposed to pet guide dogs so I didn’t do anything.

She spent a good few minutes with me, nuzzling and sniffing and stuff. Eventually I moved into another part of the train because I felt uncomfortable and didn’t know what to do. Some of the other passengers were even giving me annoyed looks, probably thinking that I’d approached the dog in the first place.

Her owner didn’t seem particularly bothered, she was close enough to me that it wasn’t like the dog had abandoned her to come near to me.

What should someone do in thus situation?

I can think of a few humans who could do with taking that refresher course.

Thank you, that makes sense. Who’d have thought the solution would be a simple conversation! I really do overcomplicate things sometimes.

Say more about the meth rat…

He was clearly creating and training a hyperbeast version of a rat. One that can withstand snap traps (and a meth addiction.) Ironically it’ll be the peanut butter that gets him in the end, dude’s got cholesterol problems.
