You're being paid for your experience and expertise in addition to the actual labor. Being able to solve a problem at a glance doesn't invalidate the work; you're just an efficient problem solver.

Sure, it doesn't feel right to charge that much for an easy fix, but these sorts of things are easy fixes for you. Not necessarily the consumer.

Might be a teachable moment for the consumer as well.

It does suck that you can't waive easy fixes as something like "brand enhancement." I had a problem at the mechanic that ended up being trivial enough that they just didn't charge. You bet I went back later for other issues.
