As a History student from Dijsselbloem-land, with a minor in European Economics, (and a study background in engineering) how much of a chance do I have of getting an internship at The Economist? Say, second semester next year? (also: was this -an improvised part of- Varoufakis plan all along? As part of his stakeholders analysis, getting out of the way to 'make it all about the people versus Abstract Institutions' in Northern European public perception?)

Thank you both for both this iama and for answering the q. I've seen the calls for applications indeed, as a follower of not only the various @TheEconomist/@Econ.... feeds but also the actual magazine. The constant level of quality you maintain across all platforms and as long (on Economist history scale: short) as I've been reading remains impressive and quite inspiring. I've always been curious about the numbers on the probably huge amount of applications comming in and those on native English speakers versus people like me. But I suppose those shouldn't be of any influence on whether or not to apply anyway. Thank you again and, obvioisly, looking forward to this week's issue!
